This qualification is designed for individuals who want to become workplace first-aiders. It fulfills the training requirements for businesses that have determined, through their first-aid needs assessment, that their employees require training at this level.

The qualification encompasses key knowledge areas, including the roles and responsibilities of a first aider, assessing incidents, and identifying signs and symptoms of injuries or illnesses. It also includes practical skills in administering CPR, using an AED, and providing assistance to casualties with severe injuries or medical conditions such as chest and spinal injuries, anaphylaxis, and the proper use of auto-injectors.
Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF)
This qualification is intended for individuals who will serve as emergency first-aiders in the workplace. It is a one-day course that fulfills the requirements set by both the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.
Learning Outcomes
Unit 1: Emergency First Aid in the Workplace
Understand the duties and responsibilities of a first aider.
Be capable of assessing an emergency situation safely.
Be able to administer first aid to an unresponsive individual.
Be able to deliver first aid to someone who is choking.
Be able to provide first aid for external bleeding.
Understand how to administer first aid to someone experiencing shock.
Know how to treat minor injuries with first aid.
Unit 2: Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the Workplace
Ability to conduct a secondary assessment of a casualty.
Ability to administer first aid to someone with suspected bone, muscle, or joint injuries.
Ability to provide first aid for a casualty with suspected head or spinal injuries.
Knowledge of how to administer first aid for suspected chest injuries.
Understanding of how to treat a casualty with burns or scalds.
Knowledge of providing first aid for eye injuries.
Understanding of how to administer first aid for suspected poisoning.
Ability to administer first aid for a casualty experiencing anaphylaxis.
Knowledge of how to treat a casualty with suspected major illnesses.
